At this year's Emmy Awards, Netflix has had the honor of having the first original series to be nominated for an award with their original series "house of cards" showing the entertainment industry that the tides have turned in terms of home entertainment.

Other online streaming services were quick to follow in the hope that they can compete with the likes of Netflix. Amazon recently announced that it will release three new pilot series for free streaming on their snapshot service. The three series have pretty strong names behind them and will be subject to answer viewers when they are released in 2014.

The first of the series of Roman Coppola, featuring the popular Jason Schwartzman. The show, entitled "Mozart in the Jungle" is based on a memoir of the same name and will depict starving musicians of life in New York.

The second show, "The Outlaws," is just in time for football season and centered around an NFL team as they go through their season. The show is described as "edgy" by the creator Jeremy Garelick series, who also wrote the film "The Break-Up."

The latest in the series is entitled "Transparent", and is a black comedy about a family in Los Angeles with "strange border issues" and stars Jeffery Tambor. The show is directed by Jill Soloway and is sure to turn some heads when it is released.

Amazon hopes that these series can bring their streaming video service, the same type of success that Netflix has seen "House of Cards" and "Orange is the new black." Whether or not this happens remains to be seen; However, with most of the big names working with them already, do not be surprised if we see more than one appointment for an online series to receive an Emmy next year. It could very well be that the streaming replaces cable as the next form of home entertainment.
